When I was a young kid I was always told that I could get any job I wanted and I thought that it was going to be easy in the future, but I was wrong.
Living in a 3rd world country might sound awful for some people and they might think that oh you’re here not living a good life but for me it’s not about the money it's about the people
The job that I always dreamed of when I was a kid was being a game designer or a person that does art for a living, but jobs in a 3rd world country are different from 2nd to 1st world countries, 3rd world countries have stores outside and the shops are very close to each other like really close.
I know being a nurse could be hard and sometimes it could be stressful but i can understand that because I have a mom that is a nurse and whenever my mom comes home she's always tired.
According to StatNews “of nurses in the U.S. are Filipino, but in some regions they account for a much larger share of caregivers. In California, for example, nearly 20% of registered nurses are Filipinos”. One of those nurses is my beautiful and lovely mom.
Now that I understand that people in the Philippines have been doing this for so long and that Filipinos are so hard working. So I asked one of the most hard working people I know for questions about Filipinos being nurses and engineers.
According to Berkeley News “The Philippines continues to be the leading exporter of professional nurses to the U.S., although the ways they immigrate have changed over time. About one-third of all foreign-born nurses in the U.S. are Filipino. Since the 1960s, there have been over 150,000 Filipino nurses who have migrated to the U.S.”
So I asked my mom Why do Filipino parents have the drive to tell their kids to be either a nurse or an engineer? And she answered “that I love caring for my children and I know now that because I have you, your brother and your sister. I care if you have a good job you’ll have a better future”.
The other question that I asked was If I were to get another job besides being an engineer or a nurse would you let me. If so why? And she answered with “ yes, because you are the one to decide for your future and it's not always up to me to decide that for you.”
Living in a world that's hard on you mentally and physically, we are not strong enough for it. But having a job that needs you to have a strong mental and physical fortitude like a nurse or any other job that needs it will make you strong enough to keep going. if i do get the job that my mom has, it will probably break me because I don’t have a strong mental and physical fortitude for me to keep that job.
So I will keep that in mind in the future.
