Alysiana Perez, 14-year old, a newly Yerba Buena student lives with her father and is enrolled in a private program to pursue Karate. She has spent many years in her old school, Shirakawa, and now, she is beginning to get used to the new challenges and perspectives in high school. She is exploring the nature of friendships and through hardships. Alysiana wants to find her detailed, true path in life.
Alysiana’s parents were split at a young age whereas she then lived with her father, grandpa, and her teacup Chihuahua, Kiki. She stated, “Living with all guys but it gets kinda lonely.” She was never close to her mother at a young age, Alysiana felt very distant from her.
She was never interested in taking the Karate class at first, but her father really encouraged her to at a young age. As she won’t have her mother by her side at all times.
She expressed, “My dad actually made me take Karate, it wasn’t my choice. I feel nice doing it. It’s a really good thing to learn.”
She started being enrolled in Karate in 2016, which is about 3 years so far. She wants to pursue the Black Belt and not waste her potential when she had thoughts of quitting.
She emphasizes, ”I’m planning to reach for it, I want to cause I put three years to the belt I am right now and I think, like, giving up is like I wasted for absolutely nothing now.” She continues to work hard to succeed, no matter what the circumstances are.
There was an incident back in Shirakawa. Starting in third grade, Alysiana was bullied by a boy around her age, who poured yogurt on her hair. She did not have a reaction because she felt vulnerable, and kept to herself that she did not mind.
She affirmed, “I feel like he did that because just out of pure laughter to his friends since he is considered to be the cool guy.” She added from the result, “In reality, I didn’t, but my mom, she overreacted a lot!”
Therefore, she listened to her father’s decision to take Karate so she can protect herself and for the people who she cares for, especially her family and friends. She has her comforting friends, sisters, and her dog during her hard, difficult times. She wants to return the offer from her selfless decisions.
She had a compassionate tone, ”They’ve affected me cause [during] dark times in my life, they’ve always been there for me and always check up on me every single day and they’re literally just the best. We would do anything for each other . . . to help me be a better person.”
Alysiana’s experience to become a brave, independent girl. It matters because she had the ambition to learn Karate, compassionate of her leadership skills, and the desire to become a powerful individual.
The power she holds by just a powerful Karate kick, Alysiana will defeat all the enemies at a successful rate.
