Many people think when you’re 6 that you don’t understand about yourself that well or about important things in the world like how bad and good it is. but MT Chu is one of the few people early on who understood this.Instead of being like other 6 years olds who care about different things that were important like drawing ,sleeping and doing little kids stuff , MT didn’t care so much for that, he was on his own path to find his true self and be happy at a early age.
When Chu was in elementary school, he encountered two girls who later helped him stop being shy , Although he doesn’t talk to those girls any more because they moved he said that“That experience made me really value friendship and I am so thankful for all of my friends.”MT soon became best friend with this new unnamed girl, who he used to play barbies with. he found out he was gay when he was playing with one of his guy friends and he couldn’t stop thinking about him he told his friend and she said that he probably like him.
She helped him get thrown a lot. MT said “She was the first person ever who I came out to as gay. She supported me and I told her silly secrets like who my crush was. She was the only person who I let see my true self. Because of her I slowly started to gain self confidence” back in 2011 but since then he came out to his family as gay on December 23 2019. It was Christmas eve and MT was acting really weird because he was planing to come out as gay to his family, his mom jokly said if he was gay and he told them on the spot.
his mom didn’t take the news too well, MT said “My mom was crying and she was blaming herself a lot. She kept asking why why why why?? And she was really sad, angry and just emotional. But my dad was really calm. He told me that I am still his son and he will love me no matter what.” his mom has become more accepting, I guess because they don’t ever really talk about. He has been okay up to this point of life until a few months into 2020.
MT became very interested in the Black lives Matter movement and when it started to gain popularity, everyone was talking about it and you couldn’t go anywhere without hearing about it. MT eyes sparkled like crazy, thinking to himself that this many people cared about it and were here to make a difference, although it true people are trying to make a difference many of them just hop on it because they saw how “trendy” it was. He didn’t like how some people did that and now a few months later no one really talks about it anymore. He said “I still try to do my best to support BLM, even if it’s signing petitions, sharing posts or even talking about it”, It’s not much but it’s honest work.”
In the end like MT said “I wouldn’t call this a life map because I’m only 14 and I haven’t experienced anything significant. But I am still excited for what’s to come.
