For some people in my friend group, volleyball was the sport that they always see me playing in school at lunchtime.some teachers they also sometimes see me holding a volleyball and bringing it to class.
If you know me you’ll know that I’m a chubby guy and you might think oh wow whats that guy doing playing volleyball he looks chubby and yeah I am chubby but I still love playing volleyball with anyone who’s down to play with me.
The first time that I ever saw or heard of volleyball was when I was in 6th grade and my PE teacher said “the next unit we are going to be learning is volleyball” and my first thought was “hmm what kind of sport is volleyball is it cool or is it fun”.
Then my Pe teacher explained how volleyball works and what the rules were and after hearing those words I thought,”Can we learn a different sport like basketball?” because I was more into basketball when I was in 6th grade.
After two years of me learning about volleyball in Pe class and not liking it, I came across an anime called Haikyuu. It was an anime about volleyball where the main protagonist is a short orange haired boy that loves playing volleyball, but has to compete with people taller than him.
When I was watching the anime I saw a completely different side of volleyball. In volleyball you need control, power, and teamwork and I know every sport needs teamwork.
After seeing the anime, I started to like the sport and started practicing by myself and in my opinion I was decent even though i practiced by myself.
After I graduated from eighth grade I really didn’t do much with volleyball because I didn't have anyone to play volleyball with at the time. I just sat around doing nothing.
When I moved from ninth to tenth grade I finally had the courage to bring a volleyball and some of my friends saw that and wanted to play, but a misfortune occurred and my volleyball landed on the roof because one of my friends hit it too hard, but they paid me back for the volleyball.
Volleyball was the only sport that I had fun playing with my friends. If you don’t like volleyball that's fine. I don't want to push my love for volleyball to other people, love the sport you like and have fun memories with that sport.
