Some families are inseparable. Yerba Buena High School student, Alexis Abrego, knows strong family bonds are important.
His sister and mother taught him to never give up. When times Alexis wanted to give up he would always look back to his mom and sister to push himself to the fullest.
“They influenced me by teaching me not to give up, before when I was younger I would give up a lot but now I try to always keep pushing myself and they would always push me to my best,” he said. His mom would also teach him how to cook and be polite.
Alexis and his sister would go shopping, watch movies, play video games and she would help him do homework so over time they would do those things with each other, their bond would get stronger.
Alexis and his brother also have a tight relationship. When they were younger, they would get in fights but as they matured they would do some brotherly competitions in soccer or video games. They would be trying to beat each other of course but it would just be fun and love for them.
“Mainly video games are the things we mainly would do competitions about…he used to play soccer and I used to play soccer and I would tell him he can't score on me and we would go to the park and play soccer,” Alexis said.
Him and his brother, instead of competing, would go to the mall or hangout with his friends. They matured enough to put their little bickering aside, when they were younger, to become best of siblings and have an inseparable bond.
Places that his family would go to a lot is Modesto to visit family out there and he would hang out with his cousin to go driving around, play video games, hangout with friends and break items. His cousin lives in the middle of nowhere so they would also go to a river to swim around in the hot weather.
Alexis also mentioned that he loved going to San Francisco with his family. Alexis described what he did in SF by saying, “...we would go to the aquarium or we would go to the museums they have…”.
Alexis said he loved to be at soccer games with his family too. He said,”...our family is pretty much involved with soccer because of my dad and then when there would be a good soccer game we would go as a family and stuff…”.
