I always thought every school year would always be the same for me, like working hard on my classes and playing on the basketball team, but once we switched to online school, I realized how wrong I was.
When online school started, I was doing alright at first. I went to my zoom classes on time and I was doing the assignments until about a month in, I changed. I didn’t like going to my zoom classes because I got bored of them and I fell asleep during the lessons. Then, later that day I pretended to do my assignments from school even though I was actually playing games on my tablet the entire time.
A few months later around January, I noticed that all my grades were Fs, not even a single A, B, C, or even a D. I told myself, “Was school worth my time anymore?” and it took me a while to realize that school is worth my time because I need to finally finish and graduate from high school. However, I completely gave up on my classes and decided to start fresh when the next school year started.
Summer began and I managed to create and find new friends on this social gaming app called Discord. One reason why I downloaded this app was because I was bored so I wanted something to keep me occupied. The second reason was because I also downloaded this game called, “Call Of Duty Mobile.” I began to learn how players play in this game and also how to get better at it.
As the weeks flew by, I became better at the game and made myself known from the game such as a content creator even though I don’t have youtube but trovo instead and a pro gamer for CODM (Call Of Duty Mobile). I joined a bunch of new servers where a bunch of clans and pro players interact with each other and post their content for their subscribers or viewers.
Then, I wanted to do more than just playing content; I wanted to be a pro player myself. I was able to be put in one of the best clans in North America and I became even better at the game. A month later, the game got boring because many good players are retiring and quitting the game. Others got sick of the game because of how boring it was. So I decided to quit the game also and just started to prepare myself for the coming up school year.
A week before the first week of the new school year was about to start, I began to prepare myself. I had to go to Target with my aunt to buy notebooks, tapes, pencils, erasers and notebooks. Later on the following days during the week, I was able to have a little motivation to workout and basketball was the move. I was able to lose 4-5 pounds everyday because I always spend 4 hours at the basketball court just putting myself back to shape.
When school started I was able to have my motivation back to do work and was able to start fresh.
There will always be a time where people will lose motivation and are thinking about giving up on something that they worked so hard for. In my opinion it’s always important to push yourself because no one else is going to do it for you and that’s true. I’m just glad that I was able to get back up on my feet and start fresh of what I should work hard on again.
