Have you ever wondered where you and your family can go for support with any mental and physical health issues that could be affecting your life? You can look up to professional healthcare places like Aveanna Healthcare. At Aveanna Healthcare, their staff can direct you to any in-home medical assistance needed. Aveanna Healthcare is a company that was established in 2017 that helps provide better home care services for families and their kid(s).
Working in this profession can be a tough task, especially if you’re a location director for your company making sure each member of your team is on track and isn’t left behind on any tasks given to them.
Binh Tran, a location director for Aveanna Healthcare, strives everyday at his workplace to be the best prepared version of himself for his entire staff team. In this story, Binh shares his experience as a director for Aveanna Healthcare and day to day tasks/challenges he has to push through in order for his team to succeed within his footsteps.
Binh talked about his major in college and his first job was being a behavioral therapist. He then got introduced into his current job.
Binh: “I studied child development in SJSU. So after I graduated, I worked at a company called Behavioral Healthcare and I was a behavioral therapist and then I worked there for a year…and then just happened that I saw Aveanna Healthcare had an opening for a program coordinator.”
His favorite part about his job is how his and his team’s hard work pays off at the end of the day. Regardless of how stressful being a director can be, there’s nothing better than seeing his work and his team’s work going noticed due to the impact it has made to families. Binh has served an estimate of over 300 families who needed his support.
Binh: “What I enjoy about what I do is that because it impacts other people. I know that what I do really makes a difference in those families that need help knowing that my effort and our staffs’ effort doesn’t go unnoticed.”
Stress can take a toll on everybody regardless of their profession but with Binh’s mindset, it’s to always push through it and adapt to the new changes that’s happening. Stress can also take over a person’s attitude when on shift so it’s always a good idea to know how to cope with it.
Binh: “Sometimes there’s new policies or regulations from the governor regarding the services that we do. Sometimes they change the law and as a director, I need to make sure that I understand those changes and apply them in training our staff; make sure that they know the changes as well so therefore we can better serve our families.”
The skills needed in working in any healthcare department is to just be a compassionate and patient person. Those two are the most major skills to have when working in healthcare and Binh has figured it out and adapted with it while on the job helping out children and families in need.
Binh: “I think one of the skills that I have really adapted while working in healthcare is that you need to have patience and compassion. Compassion is something that I tell my staff all the time. It’s either you have it or you don’t.”
Alongside stress, there can be many instances of having tough times impacting your mentality while you’re on shift but what motivates Binh to push through it is knowing that there’s people out there with bigger burdens who need his help more than he does.
Binh: “I think for me, it is knowing that what I do impacts others and they need me more than I need them. That’s what motivates me, knowing that there’s families out there that struggle with their day-to-day and needing our services. That’s really what motivates me, knowing what I do makes an impact.”
As a director for your staff team, it’s important to keep in mind plans for day-to-day functions and what tasks to complete for each day. Managing your schedule can be a tough task to do, especially when you’re packed on things but Binh always makes sure to have a calendar of plans for what he’ll be completing on a day-to-day basis.
Binh: “For me, I like to have everything planned out the day ahead. I’m more of a guy that if my days are not planned out, it’s very hard for me to kinda follow through. What I usually do is that I get in before each morning, I would go through all my emails, make sure that I handle all the urgent ones and then I kinda have a calendar on my email and I just map out what I need to do for that day and kinda just follow through.”
Trust and chemistry also plays a major role in Binh’s profession for him having to gain all his staff members’ trust and making sure everybody is on the same page. Gaining trust with others comes with time as a director for your team but it all pays off afterwards.
Binh: “For me, it’s all about trust. It’s all about empowering that you trust your team and you’re always gonna be there to support them and once you have that foundation with your team, they can trust you back.”
Every profession out there plays a major role in our community and each profession teaches different things. What has taught Binh about his profession leads back into being a more caring and patient person not only in his field but in his personal life too.
Binh: “I think for me, it’s also to have compassion and patience. It taught me that to have compassion and truly care for your team. At the end of the day, we’re all in this together. Being the leader of the team, you need to have that connection.”
