Sweet cravings

Tania, manages a small business called T.M. Cravings located in her San Jose home. She works a full time job and on her days off she works on her small business to earn some extra income. It all started by doing some chocolate covered strawberries for some family and friends which later turned into having a business.

Tania also works a part time job working at Target and she goes to school as well and although it can be difficult to handle orders, work, and doing homework she has a friend by her side that has been helping her with the orders and maintaining the business when it gets rough. 

 Tania: “Maybe sometimes working with my friend because she helps me with the decorations and all that sometimes because we don’t come in agreement with certain things or like the chocolate won’t cooperate with us so it’s like hard to finish orders and it takes us longer than usual to do them but besides that it’s pretty simply.” 

She started her business almost two years ago in July. Although when she first started she was just doing it for her friends she was getting texts and texts from people asking if she was selling them. She wasn’t making them and selling them at the time but that was just the start. Now she has her own clientele and her goals are to hopefully get a lot more clients. 

Tania loves interacting with her clients seeing their reactions. For her, knowing that her clients love the result of the sweets makes her feel good and pushes her to keep doing what she does for them. 

 Even though for her at times it gets rough and she goes through some struggles. Such as when she first started her business she had trouble with drizzling onto the sweets and when the chocolate doesn’t cooperate with her she struggles a little bit because it does take some extra time for her to get it done.

 She always manages a way to get through it and she says that it is hard to manage your own business.

Tania: “I would say you need motivation and you just have to enjoy doing what you want to do … because if you don’t want to do it then your not going to have the motivation … to wake up and go get everything that you need for your orders.”

With a little bit of patience and with some help you will be able to get some clients and will hopefully be able to have your own business.
