This story is about Cat Ho, and her story that started out as a kid who suffered with bullying for half her school life, Cat Ho is now a sophmore at Yerba Buena High school with a touching story of how her childhood was affected for being herself.
In first grade, Cat Ho experienced something no kid should ever experience, bullying. Ho was just an innocent little girl just trying to make new friends with her classmates just like any other kid would do. She was crushed when those kids who she was trying to fit in with, would not stop making fun of her for appearing weak to them for being the new girl in school.
Although she had a few friends, Sandy and it didn't feel the same for her. She still felt alone because those friends she had weren't getting bullied too, and those friends she had were not standing up for her either.
As time goes by, the bullying continued. With no one to help her, Ho realized she needs to speak up for herself but she was never ready to do so because she felt as if there was no one to talk to but her family.
“I couldn't really go to anybody because when it happened it was very public, everybody saw but no one decided to help me and i wasnt ready to talk to anybody about it.” said Ho with disappointment.
Not wanting to talk to anyone in fear she would've been considered a snitch. This was a big deal in elementary school for kids.
She might've had no one to help her at school but she always had her family to protect her. Teaching her how to get through this.
Her parents would try to talk to the principle but get nothing in return. Expecting them to do something about the repeated bullying, eventually nothing happen. This made the situation even worse for Ho because the only people she had faith in to put an end to this didnt do anything about it. So, the last option was moving schools.
This was disappointing for her because she had to lose the only friends she felt she really had which was tough for her because now she has to move to a new school and do it all over again.
As this continued, Ho was moving schools just to feel safer from what was going on in her previous school; but there was no stop to this.
It was like every school she entered, the students already had some type of hate towards her because she also appeared weak to them. With no stop to this, Ho felt traumatized, unsure of what to do now. She felt alone but she did learn how to embrace this loneliness. Knowing she never needed anyone an never will. That become her greatest weapon. She was now unbothered by the fact people didn't like her, but she didn't care anymore.
She became used to the teasing and better with healing. Although bullying shouldn't be anything normal, Ho became unbothered.
The more people saw her accept the fact she was getting constantly bullied, the more people stopped.
The more it stopped, the more confident she felt. The more confident she felt, The more friends she started making. Bullying finally came to an end in middle school. Ho felt like she was finally herself, and she was proud of it because thats all she ever wanted to begin with. She was making friends the way she wished she could a few years back, for being herself for having the same interest she had. Although she forgot who these friends were, they stood out to her because they made her feel herself.
“If they were sitting right next to me or in my class I would reach out to them.”
She felt like a brand new person and she felt ready for what's coming for her next. Although she wasnt ready to get constantly bullied as a kid, she was strong enough to win the battle with no plan.
Now being a sophomore, Ho feels healed and happy, enjoying life with her new friends who she feels like she can trust.
Looking beyond her past, Ho now has dreams of working in the medical field to help people in the way she wished people helped her.
“I really enjoy seeing people happy and enjoying their life and being able to be comfortable in their mind set and being able to take care of themselves because self love is very important.” Ho said, knowing what she has to do now, her story isn't over yet.
