Music is important to me because it has stuck with me throughout my hard life that was filled with anxiety, having it be my therapy. Everytime I feel down I just put on my music and feel a little bit better although it didn’t make much of a difference, it was definitely better. I started really listening to music in my junior year because that was when I realized that I wasn’t myself. So was my music taste. I started feeling motivated to do this type of work and I got influenced by a lot of the people I started listening to.
One big influence that I had was Yung Lean’s album unknown death 2002 when I first listened to it in class I was amazed at how the beats were so good and the flow of all the stuff he was saying was so nice to my ears. He was really influential to me because of his dream like music. It felt like it was ahead of its time and was just nice to listen to and would love to listen to him
I also had other influences like Chief Keef, Sematary, Korn and Lil B. Those people really impacted my life for the better and just made my life feel more colorful.
Chief Keef’s energy in his music is unmatched, makes you feel like wanting to sing every lyric to the song and makes you excited every time such as his songs ``I don't like '', ‘War' ' and “Faneto'. Those songs just get me going.
Sematary is like a darker version of Chief Keef but does it differently and it basically gives off the same vibe but Sematary has his own aesthetic and sound that also latched onto me with his crazy looking pictures.
Lil B is also an influence to me because he follows his own path and just has fun with whatever he makes which would seem fun to be in that position. He doesn't care and does his own thing and that helped me look at stuff a little differently like just doing my own thing in a way.
Korn also introduced me to other bands and it opened my music genre a bit more and I really enjoy listening to something different other than rap. It opened me up to new music that I didn't like before.
The new music I discovered like slipknot, evanescence, The garden and many more it was leading me into other types of music that would have more emotion which I really liked.
When I put the music on everything in my head just stops. I don't think of anything else like the music helps me clear up my head from any bad thoughts that I did have.
A music genre I feel will stick to me that I recently found out is mid-west emo.
I love the instruments in the back and the emotion they scream out. It was something new I also found.
That led me into finding more music like that which I also fell in love with. It was able to be there for me when no else would be so i just know music would stick with me forever.
