Jennifer Lam, a diligent girl who just wants the absolute best for her comrades and loved ones, was able to effectuate a community made for production and acting. Her dedication to her members for this club has turned into a drive to be able to encourage YB to include more dancing, theatrics, and play.
Lam: “I feel like YB is very lacking in the more performative aspect of art. Of course there’s dancing and they actually slay so hard man, but I would like to see more singing, acting, a band even. I believe drama club is the first step towards building that confidence and skill necessary to pull that off.”
Her expertise in her drama class has made an impact on what she wants to produce in our school. Unfortunately, it isn’t a class anymore. However, that doesn’t stop Lam from pursuing her aspiration. That class was more than just a bunch of students waiting for the lesson to be over, it was a way of adherence and confidence.
Lam: “There were people from the old drama class that joined, people I didn’t know very well. We were able to bond over shared interests and ideas because of this club.”
Being in charge of a club isn’t sunshine and rainbows. There will be some gray scales on those days where you feel like you’re out of it. However, Lam is just a young girl who wants to be able to accomplish the things that she does and the things she enjoys doing. No matter what the struggles are, she wants to make sure everybody can feel excited and valued.
Lam: “Hopefully the most I can ask for them is to have fun and enjoy the club. And that’s my job y’know? Like yeah I’d ask for effort from the members but it's hard putting work into something you don’t care about. I want to make drama club fun.”
Drama doesn’t have to be for everybody. That’s okay. Nonetheless, Lam surmises that she is able to bring acting, singing from a certain musical or maybe even a movie, to come back to life and touch people’s hearts. She wants to be able to create a bond with her audiences while being on stage.
Lam: “Our main goal is to create a safe community in which people can express their interests through acting, filmling, singing, anything drama related really.”
Dedication, perseverance and atonement are the words that I would form around Lam’s character. We don’t how long this club will be able to go on throughout the years but all we aim for is our presence on stage to bring a place that feels like home.
