Have you ever had a dream of yours that may seem a little ridiculous but you still wanted to attain it no matter what? Even the thought of saying it out loud, it sounds ludicrous. That’s okay, there’s nothing wrong with having a certain end goal that you want to reach. Whether it’s realistic or not, it’s still that one thing that’s striving you to obtain whatever it is. Let me introduce you to Diego Loza. Somebody who enjoys a life where it’s their imagination and the enjoyment of being in a place where you don’t have to deal with the cruelties of reality.
Diego Loza is a freshman in Yerba Buena High School who is very interested in possessing a Fortnite car. I know what you’re thinking, it’s outlandish. However, he has a dream and that dream can lead him to have a certain mindset where the determination gives you a drive. Whatever you want to get it, you get it and you do NOT let anything stop you.
Diego: When I started playing Fortnite in 2017 and when I saw it, I really grew a liking to them. And I want to use it in tournaments. I would feel so amazing to ride around in it and showing it off to everybody.
Rather as seeing it as something humiliating, Diego focuses it as something that he enjoys and once he is able to make his dream come true, he is able to prove to people that he can do anything he wants if he puts his mind to it. It teaches us that our dreams do not need to be legitimate to give us a purpose. In fact, there is a viable goal that Diego has and that is soccer!
Diego: I started playing soccer when I was 12. Which was 3 years ago. My brother in law was the one that taught me. He taught me how to do good tricks.
Loving something so passionately and seeing it in a perspective where you are so intent on having that continue on for how long as you’d like or maybe even for the rest of your life is a beautiful thing and nobody should be ashamed of that. People can make fun of you, laugh at you shamelessly, but they aren’t the ones working. YOU are.
Diego: I started playing because my brother in law, he plays it and he kind of introduced me to it and I kind of liked how it was. Everything about it makes me happy, really. The community is one of the best and I love everything about it.
I think one of the things that we tend to forget about because nowadays society is so judgemental. If there is a certain aspect in your life that makes you happy and allows you to grow as a person, then you shouldn’t need to listen to those voices that are telling you the opposite of what you want to do. Having hobbies or interests in your life that heals your heart and makes you want to continue and maybe fulfill it as a DREAM, do it. Never stop and don’t look back. Diego really shows us that confidence in what you do is key. Never be afraid to show people that you CAN do it.
