Banding TOgether

The Music Club is a club created in Yerba Buena. It's pretty common for every high school to have a music related club there. The point of the club is to show everyone that anyone can be a musician and maybe allow people to create their own bands/music. 

Having a club at school is very important because it can bring people together into a better community. It’s to sharpen your skills and try out new things. 

The club has existed there for a while, but there’s no specific time when it started. During the previous years with the club in Yerba Buena it was led to a state of decay since the management was not doing well, especially last year. They didn’t have many meetings and activities there.

          Aiden: The previous years didn’t really like my ideas for the club, even after they graduated.

Aiden Ranin took over the music club early last summer, becoming the new music club president. He wanted to include and make sure the members/musicians get more spotlight.

Aiden: I felt like with proper leadership and a clear goal in mind, the club would be a nice platform where anyone could experience music in its entirety.

During the previous years, It was difficult for Aiden to take over the club. So they decided to make their own separate music club instagram account.

Aiden: We have since made our own instagram account and we’ve been doing fine separating ourselves from the previous years.

The club wasn't able to get fundraisers yet, they needed money to get more instruments for the music club members. But it isn’t always about money and the fundraising, they wanted to show that anyone can be a musician, it can come from anywhere.

          Aiden: We believe it shouldn’t matter as much as nurturing our members and our community as a whole.

Some people may have stage fright and the music club can maybe try to help them overcome it when they perform with more people. Maybe they can even get more members when they start to have more bands and performances.

The music club had meetings every Friday during lunch in Yerba Buena, they would show the members slideshows and new music genres. The members in the music club usually chat with other musicians and play instruments they want.

People would even get the opportunity to create their own band if they want to. The music club doesn’t have a main official band at all, so you can get the spotlight and the music club would even shout you out.
