Last month, Kayla Banh, an 11th grade student in Yerba Buena High School decided to start her writing circle after always having a passion for writing and art.
Banh first got interested in her writing circle after being sad because she realized that not a lot of people in our generation like books or classical literature.
She encouraged her brother, some friends and one of her friends' boyfriends to be a part of her writing circle.
“Oh yes, it was very successful right off the bat. People were inviting their friends and everything,” Banh said.
The writing circle is being hosted online, but they are planning on meeting up very soon. One of the members is flying into San Jose Ca.
He is from Las Vegas, Nevada.
In addition to writing, she also enjoys “art, more specifically concept art and sketching.”
In our journalism class we created a life map of important things in our life, judging by hers I can see she is very artistic and definitely has potential.
Although she enjoys writing and art a lot she doesn't see herself as a professional writer in the future because it’ll be too hard to support herself.
“Maybe, it has a bleak future because of AI and because writers get underpaid so I would want to have a stable job but still pursue my hobbies.”
She doesn't see herself as a writer or artist in the future but in college she said she might want to major in English, But the writing circle is definitely her main focus for now.
