Jazmin Liborio Barrera is 14 years old, a freshman in high school, and a future pediatric assistant. After being inspired by her babysitter growing up and love for her newly-born niece, she knew she wanted to help children in hospitals.
With the support of her older sister and her family, she is currently studying and working hard towards her dream while listening to her favorite music. Which inspires and motivates her to keep working hard.
Barrera grew up having a babysitter who would take care of her, and she was inspired by the way her babysitter took care of tasks while paying attention to her needs. Her dream of being a pediatrician also stems from her younger niece, as Barrera describes children positively.
“I just think children are little bundles of joy, I love seeing them smile.”
In order to accomplish her dreams and to make her parents proud, she has to study. She can always count on Julia, her older sister, to keep her on track. Barrera considers her sister as her comfort person, as she can always go to her if she needs anything, as she’s the one who buys her tickets to concerts.
“My older sister always makes sure I maintain my grades and if I don’t she does things like not letting me go to concerts.”
Barrera and her sister are extremely close. Growing up surrounded by brothers, she always hung out with her only sister. While doing chores and going through hard times, Barrera listens to her favorite bands, Fuerza Regida and Edición Especial, which she first heard from her sister.
“I grew up around my sister hearing that music and it kind of just stuck.”
Barrera’s music and family motivate her to accomplish her dreams, and Barrera will be a wonderful future pediatrician.
