When I first got my bunny I was at a flea market in Modesto. They had some cool stuff like fireworks, birds, chickens and more than animals and when we kept walking there was a whole line of pets and I saw some bunnies. When I looked at them it reminded me of when I had a bunny when I was younger and I wanted to get one again. So I got one which was blonde white and a little bit of black. and another that was just black and white. so i bought them and paid extra for a cage and food.
When I got home the first thing I did was take them out and let them run around the backyard. At the same time I was trying to find a name for them both. At first I thought the blonde one should be peaches or caramel but I decided to name her Nibbles because she likes to nibble on things. And the black one I named it Oreo because he looked and reminded me of an Oreo so I named him that. After that, i went to Petco and got them a bed and some treats.
Later on during the year they were pretty healthy till one day I came back from football practice. I came to check on Nibbles and Oreo and all of a sudden I saw Oreo just laying like he was just sleeping. But when I tried moving him till I realized that his eyes were dry and his mouth was open. I took him out of the cage and he was just so still and his neck felt broken.
I was devastated and broke down into tears because he was a good pet towards me and it was just sad to see him dead. So I just put him in a bag and buried him in my front yard.
One of my favorite memories with Oreo was when I saw him running around the back yard and jumping all happy to be free from his cage. When Oreo passed away I had to deal with him not being able to play around me and just feeding him in general.
The next day I went to check on my other bunny Nibbles and she looked sad , she wasn't playing she wasn't running around nor was she eating, she was just really sad that she lost her best friend.
About 5 months later she got big and she's happy to see me or my family members. I let her out of her cage on 11/16/2024 and she was just running around and jumping.
When I have my free time or when I'm off school I give her some food and water and 30 minutes after I let her out her cage so she can have fun and I take videos and pictures of her so I can get memories of her before she passes away.
I feel like I have changed from having Nibbles because it makes me feel more responsible for her and I talk about Nibbles a lot to my family members so I care for nibbles a lot and I feel great just having her by my side.
