Norah Lazetera, a Yerba Buena Junior, finds her thrill and happiness on the cheer team and within the community she has built alongside them.
Lazetera was originally too afraid to join the cheer squad due to the fear of not making the team. “I just feel like I was really scared. Like, I didn't know if I would make the team or not.”
The way Lazetera defeated that fear was through the support of her friends; they gave her the confidence to join them and attend one practice with them. “My friend Sayra and my friend Evelyn, they actually wanted me to go to practice [and] tryout with them.”
Norah feels at home when she is with her cheerleading team and the community that supports her, which empowers her to do things she is afraid of, and do some things that are really fun.
From that day on, her passion and enjoyment of cheerleading have grown. She built an amazing community within the team she had been with since her sophomore year.
Within Lazetera memories, a very vivid memory of hers is when her team and she arrive at Evergreen High and were performing on the sidelines, it always pops up in her head and always with a smile on her face.”I remember we were at an away game, and it was Evergreen. And we were stunting. We were like stunting on side sidelines “
Norah Lazetera continues cheerleading in her Junior year and is very excited about this upcoming season, and is really looking forward to showing off the amazing skills she has been working on all summer
