Diego Garcia is currently a hard working student who is a 16 year old junior at Yerba Buena High school. who is also a brother of five siblings who made football more than just a sport but also turned it into motivation for himself.
He’s been playing football for three years, it led him to create an outlet for him to let out a lot of his emotions.
“When I was running into people or hitting, I would let out my anger,” said Garcia.
He doesn’t just play football for fun - he plays it because of connections and friends he’s made when playing football.
“a fond memory is when I was messing around with my friends during practice”
One of his fond memories about football was when his team was playing against Mt. Pleasant and at the beginning, they were losing but at the end, they won.
“I remember at the game, everyone chanted and was happy and I still remember the rush of adrenaline rushing when playing”
He started his passion for football in 7th grade because he said he was overweight and then made that as a motivation to keep playing.
“I played football for my health, so I could lose weight because I was pretty overweight, back then.” This led what others would assume as a simple sport, an extracurricular, a hobby into something that he utilizes to improve his health.
But then, in sophomore year, he was experiencing some back pain and it never went away which led him to quit football, even as much as stopping him from playing varsity football. All of this snowballed and resulted in him putting down a passion he has.
In the future, when he’s done with high school, he plans to go to a trade school. Although he doesn’t know which trade school, he does know that he wants to be an electrician.
